Wegmans Employee Scholarship

In 2018, I was honored to be chosen as one of the 1,675 recipients of the prestigious Wegmans Employee Scholarship Program. This program, which has awarded over $115 million in scholarships since 1984, demonstrates Wegmans' commitment to supporting employees in their higher education and career goals. As a part-time employee, I received $1,500 per year for four years, which greatly assisted me in funding my college education.

During my five-year tenure at Wegmans, I had the opportunity to work in various roles and departments, including cashier, bulk foods and grocery. Starting as a cashier, I provided exceptional service and developed strong relationships with colleagues and customers. Later, I expanded my responsibilities to include tasks such as stocking shelves, guiding customers, and even creating captivating displays like the holiday candy display captured in a cherished photo from 2018.

My experience at Wegmans allowed me to develop important skills in customer service, teamwork and attention to detail. I’ll always appreciate the support and growth-oriented environment fostered by my colleagues and managers. I am grateful for the opportunities Wegmans provided me and the experiences that have shaped my professional journey.
